Dear Shih Tzu owner,
If you want to have a happy, healthy and obedient Shih Tzu, then
this might be the most important message you read today...
Let me tell you why:
There is more to having a pet Shih Tzu than you might have first
thought. To be more precise, there's more to understanding and
loving it than you would have ever even considered. You want to make
sure you and your dog are both having a happy and an enjoyable time
together - always.
I think I should introduce myself, my name is Caryn Niccols.
I'm not a professional dog trainer or anything fancy, but just an ordinary
person like you who simply loves Shih Tzus.
Let me ask you something, are these 3 of the most important secrets
you want to know about your Shih Tzu?
1. How to make your Shih Tzu happy and loving?
2. How to understand what your Shih Tzu wants or likes so
that you can take care of it to make sure it's always healthy?
3. What are the secrets to train your Shih Tzu to follow your
instructions and listen to you obediently every time?
Those were the 3 main burning questions I had when I
first had Bella (that's my Shih Tzu's name) around. But I was
frustrated because I couldn't find this information anywhere!
Especially on getting the love, attention and obedience training
parts right.
In fact, I've searched in almost all the corner
bookstores around. Yeah, sure I found a few dog books authored by
the so-called 'dog experts'. I bought them happily and started
reading but when I applied the tips given, they just didn't work!
I realized why most of the books I read don't
work...
They are dog books, NOT Shih Tzu books!
You see, Shih Tzus are a wonderful breed that seems
to have their own ways and mind.
The so-called 'dog expert' writers have probably never owned a
Shih Tzu before. They might
have owned dogs, but not Shih Tzus.
Lastly, the writing is based on THEIR opinions of
what's right and wrong. Heck, how sure are they that what they teach
is right?
After a hard consideration, I set out to find these
secrets myself. It was not easy at first, but I pursued and
persevered.
I ended up doing my own research to find out the
truth about these secrets so that I can take good care of my own
dog. (And of course, I wanted to find a way to stop him from chewing
on my slippers!)
Then, I wanted him to get along with the children. I
spent over 3 months just communicating with 114 Shih Tzu lovers
around the world (some are owners) to get their input and learn from
their experiences.
Then, I surfed the
internet, burning the midnight
oil to read articles and forum posts to find out more. And, of
course, I did not forget about the tips I've gathered from books
I've bought from the local bookstores.
Next I spent time with
4 professional dog trainers to find
those who specialise in Shih Tzus. One gave me the low down on
Shih Tzu behaviour
problems like barking, chewing or begging, and how to cure them.
Another showed me simple, but effective
methods to specifically train Shih Tzus to Sit, Stay, Lay
Down, Come, Retrieve and more.
Finally I spoke to my vet (who also has a Shih Tzu) and
the local veterinarian training hospital who gave me great advice on
keeping a Shih Tzu healthy, how to prevent and cure common
(and less common) Shih Tzu illnesses and diseases.
Phew! It was a lot of work. But if you were to ask
me whether it was worth the effort, I'll say YES because I finally
got my answers. It's no longer a secret to me how to make a Shih Tzu
happy, healthy and obedient the way you want it.

We Can All Learn Something
My son sent me Shih Tzu Secrets as a Birthday present as he is
currently in Australia. We have a 3 year old Shih Tzu
who is beautiful, charming, funny, loyal and loving but only
does as she's told when she feels like it.
Having had 2 Shih Tzus before we assumed that this was part
of their breed trait and just lived with their pulling on
leads, running off, chewing things she shouldn't etc. After all their
characters more than make up for this.
I read Shih Tzu Secrets and The Dog Lovers Guide. My husband
laughed when I said that I was going to try and train Lucy
to sit when she was told, walk to heel and come when
she was called.
Lucy and I went into the study and began our lessons. We
were going to start with the basics, "The Sit". My
husband laughed a little more at the site of me reading
aloud from Shih Tzu Secrets and following the instructions. To
both our surprised Lucy sat. It must have been luck. I made
her stand up and tried again. Nothing. I realised that I had
missed out the hand movement and as soon as I used it she
sat again. We practiced for a little longer and both Lucy
and I became "sit" perfect.
We worked though the book a little each day, Lucy and I
learning as we went. Eventually our whole family used to
gather for Lucy's lessons. It became a family occasion and
she loved it.
As I write this Lucy is still beautiful, charming, funny,
loyal and loving but now she can sit, walk to heal and
actually comes when she's called. Even better, she no longer
chews the furniture!
4 months ago if you had told me that I could obedience
train a 3 year old Shih Tzu I would have laughed like my
Husband did. You and Lucy proved us wrong.

Top Of The Class
We had been taking our new Shih Tzu to obedience classes
for 2 months without much success. The other dogs and their
owners were doing really well but Petra is do head strong
and I'm so in experienced that we were still trying to
master the basics. We were bottom of the class. It was both frustrating
and embarrassing.
We purchased Shih Tzu Secrets in the hope that you would be
able to help. Help, you transformed our dog. After reading
the chapter on Repetition and Reward the penny dropped and
we began again from the beginning. Her behaviour changed
within 20 minutes and we made more progress after 2, 30
minute sessions than in the whole of the previous 2 months.
We kept Petra from classes for 3 weeks and taught her to
Sit, stay, come, walk to heel and fetch using your techniques. Then
we went back to class. I was really nervous but Petra went
through her paces perfectly to a huge cheer from the other
owners and amazement from the trainer.
We have we now passed out of the obedience class with
flying colours and Petra won the trainers award for being
"The most improved dog".

How much grooming is required by your Shih Tzu?
For example, I did not know that a crate can be so important to Shih Tzus. Now, my dog has her own crate to sleep in, and we're
both happier because of it! :o)
I've put together these steps and first-rate tips for you to
start a wonderful and loving relationship with your Shih Tzu. In a

I took a lot of time writing my book that is jam-packed full of
tips to ensure your success in building a loving relationship with
your Shih Tzu.

If you were searching for these useful tips yourself, it would
easily take you months (or even years!) to discover them. But
obviously, you DO NOT have that kind of time because YOU WANT to
enjoy your time with your lovely dog now. Or, if you go ahead and

you want, but a general understanding of DOGS only.
How about investing a just $19.95 to help you get started on
finding all these secrets?
In researching "Shih Tzu Secrets" I read three ebooks which
